If you have a sentimental attachment to 51fifteen restaurant in Saks Fifth Avenue, plan your lunch or cocktails soon. The restaurant (and the store) will close April 20 to move to their new digs in the Galleria.

April 28 is the date set for the opening of the new 51fifteen Cocktails & Cuisine in conjunction with the store opening.

The restaurant announced Monday it will open with executive chef Stefon Rishel in the kitchen. Rishel, formerly with Max’s Wine Dive in Fort Worth, will offer a menu he calls “local worldly,” that will embrace his passion for sustainable and local ingredients and fresh seafood.

Expect a chef-driven menu of “Southern European fare” that imparts classic preparations using locally-sourced and seasonal ingredients, according to a press release Monday.

The restaurant’s general manager will be Chad Wherry who also comes to the project from Max’s Wine Dive in Fort Worth where he worked for the past two years alongside Rishel.

Look for the restaurant to sport a fabulous new design sporting a palette of white, black, gray and brass with white marble stone and mid-century modern furnishings. The design is courtesy of Houston’s Nina Magon of Contour Interior Design in conjunction with Construction Concepts. The 208-seat restaurant on the second floor of Saks can be accessed not just from within the department store but through valet parking entrance on Westheimer and from the parking garage via elevator.

In addition the restaurant will operate a satellite bar on the ground level of Saks (to make shopping that more fun).

51fifteen is a concept from Landmark Houston Hospitality group.
