Aggies kicker Taylor Bertolet meets with Texans

Texas A&M kicker Taylor Bertolet had a private workout and lunch with Texans special teams coordinator Larry Izzo, according to a source not authorized to speak publicly.

Bertolet also had a dinner meeting with the Miami Dolphins.

Bertolet was a second-team All-Southeastern Conference selection who made six field goals against Vanderbilt to tie a school and conference record.

Bertolet made every extra point and connected on five field goals of 50 yards or longer.

The strong-legged Reading, Pa., native made 22 of 31 field goals last season for the Aggies while dealing with occasional long-snapping issues.

Bertolet was a three-time SEC academic honor roll member.

As a junior, Bertolet was a kickoff specialist who had 40 touchbacks.

Bertolet and quarterback Johnny Manziel became the first freshmen to surpass the 100-point level in a season … scored 106 points including 13 field goals and a school record 67 extra points .

Bertolet was the top-ranked kicker out of high school and an All-American selection who hit 4 of 6 field goals as a senior and made a pair of 60-yard field goals at the Texas A&M camp.

He was a first-team all-state selection and named to the Big 33 all-star game.
