Astros once again trying to get bang for their buck

Once again, the Astros head into a season looking to get the most out of one of baseball’s lowest payrolls.

Last year, Houston ended a 10-year playoff drought despite having the sixth-lowest payroll in the game at $81.4 million, by far the lowest among playoff teams.

This year, the Astros’ payroll has increased to a projected $94,058,500, ranking No. 23 per The Associated Press. The Dodgers, at $234,648,955, have the game’s largest payroll, with the Marlins the lowest at $59,843,436.
