Notable: The pitcher and first baseman was 3-for-6 with an RBI against Cypress Falls last week. He also turned in an 86-pitch complete game, giving up six hits and one run while striking out four and walking none.

What assistant coach Corey Cephus said: “Connor kept a good-hitting Eagles team off balance and demonstrated mastery of the strike zone with his pinpoint accuracy.”

Other nominees

Jay Scurlock, Stafford: Scored three goals in a 6-1 playoff victory over Bay City on Friday. All three goals came in the first half.

Lael Lockhart, Friendswood: In games against Clear Lake and Clear Brook, Lockhart was 7-for-7 at the plate with four doubles, five RBIs, three runs and a home run.

Landon Malouf, St. Thomas: Won the Division I 100-meter hurdle run at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at 14.51 seconds.

Notable: The senior goalkeeper saved three penalty kicks, helping Taylor to a 0-0 (3-2) area-round win over Cypress Ranch.
