Husband shot protecting his wife from north Houston robber

A Houston man was shot while protecting his wife from a would-be robber Sunday night near Cypress Station, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The chaos kicked off just before midnight when the worried wife spotted a man walking quickly toward her.

She headed for her apartment in the 900 block of Cypress Station Drive, but the suspect cut her off, pushing her down and demanding her phone.

From inside the building, her husband heard the scuffle and flung open the door to go save his wife. Instead, the suspect shot him before running away.

Afterward, the husband drove himself to Houston Northwest Medical Center where he is expected to survive his wounds.

Neither victim caught a glimpse of the robber’s face, so the only description police could offer Monday was of an older man wearing a ballcap and baggy jeans.
