Marwin Gonzalez to start at first in Astros’ opener

NEW YORK – The switch-hitting Marwin Gonzalez will start for the Astros at first base Tuesday behind reigning American League Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel and against Yankees’ righthander Masahiro Tanaka.

First baseman Tyler White is in line to make his first major-league start Wednesday, when righthander Michael Pineda starts for New York.

Also:

Preston Tucker will serve as the Astros’ designated hitter Tuesday. … The Astros have won on each of their last three opening days. The organization has never strung together opening day wins in four consecutive seasons.
